S240 Bike camping

S240 bike camping is the idea of going camping on your bike but leaving and getting back with in a 24 hr period. It means less organisation, less time away from the family. Its like having a mini holiday. Shane and I did one a few weeks ago and despite me getting as sick as a dog it was still a great night. Seems there was a bug going around with a few of my friends getting crook as well, so it wasn't Shane's cooking as first expected!

Update

Past time for an update. So the Marin has been seeing regular service. Both using the rack and towing the trailer.

Rack broke some weeks ago snapped at the leg

Had to do some runing repairs!

But this weekend I'm taking the Marin for a camping trip out to booderee national park so I had to replace it.

The new rack is a topeak model and much higher quality than the old rack

All back together and ready for our next adventure.

Retrofit Reel to Reel player as an amp

Tomorrow is Australia Day, and also the Hottest One Hundred hosted by tripleJ.
My niece is in the running to get on the list so we will be spending the day down at the the local park listening to the radio with a bunch of friends. Problem is I don't have a radio that is portable. I do however have a small radio for use with headphones and an amp I pulled out of a broken boom box and put in a box. So off to the tip I went looking for a set of speakers and came across this old reel 2 reel recorder.
The idea was to gut it and replace the insides with the amp and newly acquired speakers.

Weekend of riding around

Couple of Saturdays ago I seemed to be on the bike all day. First a 50 k ride with the bunch then back and a ride over to Husky with Ros and Molly Then it was off to the tip to get rid of some junk including an old Microwave. The tip guys thought it was a great laugh (just happened to be about 5 of them there at the time for some reason?). Anyway the trailer did a great job.
